Milan Design Week represents the peak of global interior fashion, an annual arena where the boundary between structural architecture and avant-garde style dissolves completely. For the 2026 edition, the conversation shifted away from standard product rollouts toward deep sensory narratives and boundary-pushing artistic alignments. Leading that shift at the ICG Gallery in the heart of Milan was Iris Ceramica Group.
Under the theme The Humans Behind, the group reframed large-format ceramics entirely, moving past porcelain as purely functional cladding to present it as a vivid, expressive universe of surfaces. By blending advanced Italian engineering with the disruptive world of haute couture fashion, Iris Ceramica made the case that porcelain slabs can carry the same artistic authority as a tailored runway collection.
The centrepiece of the Milan showcase was Reloaded: Diesel Living with Iris Ceramica, marking ten years of the two brands' shared creative research. Developed under the creative direction of Glenn Martens in collaboration with design studio Controvento, the collection injects a bold, contemporary attitude into large-format porcelain, structured around two vibrant colour-block compositions that juxtapose massive slabs with smaller, traditional clay formats.

Two surfaces anchored the gallery windows and captured the immediate attention of visiting designers. Distressed Rug takes the intricate, classical motifs of traditional Persian carpets and translates them into raw porcelain, with a faded, time-worn texture that brings antique textile warmth to solid floors. Acid Majolica offers a striking distortion of historic Portuguese tile patterns, finished in pearl and metallic bronze and silver glazes that react dynamically under changing interior light, giving walls an edgy, fluid aesthetic.
Further into the showroom, Iris Ceramica Group highlighted its premium sub-brand Sapienstone, presented directly as haute couture for modern interiors. These 12mm-thick large-format surfaces explore the friction between raw natural memory and industrial precision, and this year's Milan showcase introduced three new surfaces built on that idea, each produced in 320×160cm slabs. Travessa draws its aesthetic from classic travertine, reconstructing the layered geological stratification and organic tonal shifts of quarried stone, moving from soft ivory to rich hazelnut, available in natural and cashmere finishes. Breccia Rosa 4D reinterprets Veronese brecciated marble, with its complex chromatic mix of antique pinks and terracotta tones, using 4D technology to carry the pattern through the full thickness of the slab so it stays visually continuous even when cut or processed. Muschelkalk references a rare Central European limestone, its fluid transitions between warm greys, beige and slate tones holding chromatic coherence across large surfaces. Together the three surfaces give architects a genuinely bespoke-feeling slab option at a scale few other manufacturers can match.
