Inalco MDi: Large Format Surfaces Beyond Tile
Inalco MDi takes large-format porcelain into a wider range of architectural and interior applications. Developed from minerals and designed around contemporary architecture, MDi combines a refined material expression with the durability and versatility needed for everyday use.
The difference becomes clear when the material moves beyond a conventional wall or floor.
Large-format slabs can be used across kitchens, furniture, bathrooms, feature walls and architectural elements, allowing designers to carry the same material language throughout a project. With fewer joints and larger surfaces, the material can feel more integrated into the architecture rather than simply applied to it.
Designed for more than one application
Inalco's range of formats and thicknesses allows MDi to adapt to different requirements.
In kitchens, larger slabs create generous worktops and splashbacks with minimal joints. In furniture, thinner formats can be used for cabinetry, doors and bespoke pieces. In bathrooms, large surfaces create a more continuous finish across walls and floors.
The material can also move into more considered architectural details, including fireplaces, chimney breasts, reception areas and feature walls.
Where material meets design
What makes MDi particularly relevant to architects and designers is the way the surface can connect different elements of a project.
Rather than selecting one material for the kitchen, another for the furniture and another for the walls, MDi allows a consistent visual language to run through the space.
At PietraCasa, we support projects from material selection through to fabrication and installation, helping architects, designers and fabricators find the right MDi surface, format and application for each project.
